Written in 1843, but still relevant today, Charles Dickens’ immortal classic A Christmas Carol will grace the DeBaun stage again this December. It is the story of an old, bitter miser - Ebenezer Scrooge - and the chance for his redemption through the visitation of a partner from the past who learned his lesson too late and three timely ghosts. With holiday visions to spark wonder and memories for all, the Royal Shakespeare Company’s A Christmas Carol as adapted by John Mortimer, will be a new addition to your family tradition.

Clara Barton Green CLARA BARTON GREEN (Director) was raised on A Christmas Carol, both the book and the annual production at Ford's Theatre in Washington, DC, and she is honored to have the opportunity to bring Dickens's masterpiece to the stage. An accomplished singer and musician, Clara's earliest training was within the Anglican sacred music tradition, and she is thrilled to combine her loves of English literature, English traditional and sacred music, history, ghosts and choral singing in one glorious production. Clara hails from Virginia, and has worked as an actor, singer and director up and down the East Coast, and in Europe and Africa. As a director (and frustrated dramaturg), she has helmed acclaimed productions of such plays as Agnes of God, Sleeping in Tomorrow (Spotlight On Halloween Festival), Vanities, Admit Impediments (Midtown International Theatre Festival), A Hillside in Hell, Vampires on Disability, Candy, Flowers and a Card and Three Questions, winner of the 2002 Sam French Off-Off Broadway Festival. This January she will be directing the Off-Off Broadway premiere of Elana Gartner's new play Because of Beth. As a classically trained soprano she has performed Handel, Mozart, Cole Porter, Gilbert and Sullivan, Ralph Vaughn Williams, Meredith Willson, Debussy, Mendelssohn, Rogers and Hammerstein, Flaherty and Ahrens, and Kander and Ebb, and has sung at the Kennedy Center. She has also sung and danced to showtunes all over the western Mediterranean—the beautiful Costa del Sol and African coast induced a severe case of tanorexia in her, but luckily she made a full recovery. As an actor, she has worked with Hinton Battle (Lady of Copper) Mark Hollmann (Fare for All), and Tracie Thoms (Hair). Favorite roles include Sheila in Hair, Rosalind in As You Like It, Helen in The Trojan Women, the Emcee in Cabaret, Jenny in Shenandoah, Hope in Anything Goes, Puck in A Midsummer Night's Dream and most recently as Viola in Holla Holla Productions' Twelfth Night. She also appeared as Calliope in Duncan Pflasters's Eternity: Time Without End, for which she was awarded the Spotlight On Award for Best Actress in a Full-Length Production. In addition, she's appeared in many independent and short films of which you've probably never heard. Clara attended both Mount Holyoke College and Sweet Briar College and has a degree in English and music. She would like to thank her wonderful cast for their patience, hard work, good humor and talent and the DeBaun staff for indulging her Erich von Stroheim fantasies. "For Jane, Kurt Karlsson, and my mother." www.ClaraBartonGreen.com
